Proper washing techniques are essential when it comes to maintaining the longevity of your hair extensions. You can't just shampoo and condition like usual! Now that you've got faux hair on your scalp, there are special techniques you can do to keep your scalp and strands clean, without damaging your hair extensions.

Follow these tips to ensure a thorough and effective wash that keeps your extensions looking flawless.

1. Brush gently

Before stepping into the shower, gently brush your hair extensions in a downward motion. This step helps prevent matting and tangling during the washing process. Use a soft-bristle brush or a specifically designed hair extension brush to ensure you’re treating your extensions with the utmost care.

2. Ensure Every Inch is Clean

While washing your hair, pay special attention to the areas underneath and between the rows of your extensions. These areas can accumulate oils, sweat, and product buildup, so be sure to work the shampoo through them diligently. A gentle massage with your fingertips will help ensure a thorough cleanse.

3. Opt for a Double Wash

If it’s been five days or more since your last wash, consider a double wash for a refreshed and healthy scalp. The first wash removes initial dirt and buildup, while the second wash deeply cleanses and ensures that your extensions are as revitalized as your natural hair.

4. Rinse with Care

When it’s time to rinse out the shampoo, don't rub your hair. Instead, let the water glide down your hair. This downward way of rinsing your strands helps prevent unnecessary tangles and ensures the shampoo is thoroughly washed away from both your natural hair and extensions.

5. Squeeze Out the Excess Water

After rinsing, gently squeeze out excess water from your hair. Avoid wringing or rubbing, as this can cause tangling or for the hair extensions to detach.

6. Detangle with Precision

Once you step out of the shower, patiently detangle your damp hair and hair extensions. Use a wet brush specifically designed for wet hair, and work through each section with care. Starting from the ends and working your way up, this step ensures a smooth and tangle-free finish.

By incorporating these simple yet effective techniques into your hair care routine, you’ll maintain the beauty and vibrancy of your hair extensions, ensuring they stay as stunning as the day you first wore them
