Hand-tied hair cxtensions offer such styling versatility. A favorite go-to look when you're ready to mix it up is the classic hallf-up, half down hairstyle with. It goes well with hand-tied hair extensions because you can immediately add volume and length. Follow below as Covet & Mane educator Danita Hampton shows how you to create a chic and effortless half ponytail while wearing hair extensions.

Step 1: Start With the Front

Begin by separating two small triangle-shaped sections of hair at the front of your head, near your forehead. It’s best not to detangle the hair before starting this look to ensure a fluffy and natural look.

Step 2: Clipping

Grab a triangular section of hair, making sure you're not snagging any of your hair extensions' wefts, and clip it. Repeat on the other side! Tip: You can use your fingers to part the hair as it's safer to use than a comb as it might tug on the extensions.

Step 3: Creating the Ponytail

Combine the two sections and brush the hair to the back. Do this gently over the wefts, brushing straight up! Some of the wefts will be pulled up, while others will still be down, ensuring they blend seamlessly with your natural hair.

Step 4: Securing the Ponytail

Take an elastic hair tie—better if it's the same color as your hair—and wrap it around the ponytail. Wrap the hair tie around three times, making sure not to pull too tightly. If you feel any tension in your natural hair, hold the base of your pony and, using your fingers, gently release the tight hair parts. There's no need to be hung up on a slick pony because for this look, texture is everything.

Step 5: Wrap and Secure (Optional)

If you want to add an extra layer to your hairstyle, take a small section of hair from underneath the ponytail and wrap it around the hair tie. Secure it in place with a bobby pin. Since this area doesn’t have wefts, you won’t need to worry about snagging.

With the remaining hair from the ponytail, use it to cover the sides of the wefts. This step helps conceal the hair extensions, giving your ponytail a seamless and natural look.

Creating a half up half down ponytail with hand-tied hair extensions is a simple yet elegant way to enhance your hairstyle. Remember to embrace the texture and dimension created by the extensions, and feel free to customize the style to suit your preferences!
